IT ALL STARTED IN THAILAND
Scholars of Sustenance Foundation (SOS) is the first food rescue foundation in Thailand and was established in 2016. Our mission is to enhance the food system in the country to minimize needless loss of surplus food and improve food equity by redistributing high quality surplus food from food related businesses such as hotels, grocers, restaurants, and other suppliers to communities in need in Bangkok, Phuket, Hua Hin, and other places in the country every day.
To date, Scholars of Sustenance Thailand programs have rescued approximately 2 million kgs of surplus food, served 8.7 million meals to 426 communities, and reduced 3.9 million kgs of C02 creation if the food were wasted in landfills.

We run 7-days operation in Bangkok, and 5-days operation in Phuket and Hua Hin. The focus of daily operation is the food distribution that happen every day to the communities. Here are our programs that happen everyday!
Food Rescue Program
A Systematic Approach to Deliver Good Quality Surplus Food to People in Need.
We send trucks to rescue surplus food from various sectors such as hotels, retailers, suppliers, and manufacturers 7 days a week with a cold-chain logistic system. After a food safety inspection, surplus food is donated to orphanages, shelters, low-income communities.
Surplus Food Hub Program
An Innovative Logistic Flows, by our Strategic Partner to both deliver and Rescue Food in trip!
A new innovative food rescue model created in collaboration with Berli Jucker (BJC). The Food Hub workflows operate by the BJC logistic deliver new supply from Distribution Center and rescue the food surplus from the outlets back to the Distribution Center. Then, we pick up the bulk food surplus from the Distribution Center instead of 20 outlets everyday.
Community Fridge Program
Rescuing food from vendors and those who want to give to the community!
A daily food rescue collaboration with Sam Yan Mitr Town, The Common, and their vendors to rescue the food in the community mall! The donors communicate with food vendors regarding the food rescue program with SOS where they encourage everyone to donate food surplus to the designated community fridge, and SOS Food Rescue Ambassador will come to rescue and distribute them!
In a weekly basis, we run supporting operation, focusing on the support project complimenting the food rescue operation and extending the reach of support more than normal operation can do. Here are our programs that happen every week!
Rescue Kitchen Program
Serving Nutritious Meals for the Needy
More than rescuing food, we want to serve warm meals to the community during the trying time. Our rescue kitchen program established a partnership with community volunteers to cook surplus food together, and distribute freshly cooked food to the community members in different locations. A meal cooked by the community for the community people
Cook for SOS Program
Supporting the communities with your cooking skills!
This program encourages volunteers to take initiative in cooking food for their local community where many people are struggling with food security during this pandemic, by cooking and contact our team on collection points for drop off schedule. We can deliver them from your kitchen straight to different communities. Making different with you our hands!!
SOS Deli Truck with Delifrance
Warm bread and Support for the Children Every Week!
Once a week, SOS Hua Hin will receive a batch of frozen surplus bakeries from Delifrance, a bakery manufacturer in Hua Hin. Under the collaboration with our hotel partners, they allow us to reheat and re-bake the bakeries, turning frozen bread into warm and puffy pastries for the children and low-income in Hua Hin!
Food Rescue Learning Program
Improve Children's Food Literacy
We empower the new generation to become more conscious on the topic of food and the environment. We provide the active learning session to students to participate and learning through activities like gardening, plantation, cooking, making compost, and become more conscious about food that they eat everyday!
Intermittent operation refers to extensive food and educational program organized by SOO team and volunteer networks. There are several support programs of SOS Thailand that occur independently from the strict operation schedule. Here are our intermittent programs!
Remote Community Food Program
Serving Nutritious Meals for the Needy
This is an extensive food program under collaboration and partnership with volunteer networks that helps us distribute food to remote communities in Thailand. These are communities in the deep forest and mountain ranges that are difficult to reach by normal vehicles. We provided the shelf-stable surplus from various manufacturers to the rural communities with low food security.
SOS Garden Program
Growing from Food Waste, to feed the community in need!
SOS Garden program was founded as the extensive program for Rescue Kitchen Program. When we organize the community kitchen, we see the opportunity in vegetable waste that can replant, re-grow and reuse again. The program seeks to re-grow the vegetable from Community Kitchen preparation waste and harvest the organic produces for future distribution!
Health School Lunch Program
Healthy Lunch for Student in Need!
This is the support program of the Rescue Kitchen Program where we provide vegetable supplies for the nearby school in Bangkok. We value and promote food accessibility and nutrition supply for children. With the vegetable provided, the school can save more budget and buy more protein for the children, ensuring healthy & delicious lunch for students!
Food Waste Management Program
Bring Nutrients Back to Soils
Introducing the Food Waste Management Program! We offer the service of workshops, food waste management consultant, and food scrap to farm delivery. Learn how to manage food waste at home/ workplace and return good nutrition to the soils for your plants and saving the environment!
Here are other support activities that supporting our food rescue operation which will occur by the support and collaboration of everyone by volunteer and by internship!

A Great Opportunity for Students to Experience Social & Environmental Works
The program seek to establish system of internship within the foundation for the purpose of supporting foundation staff and food rescue operation. The program welcomes every college students from any campus who would like to experience the working in a foundation that creates impact to the people, society, and the world.
