SOS G20 Surplus Food Race

Indonesia is the host of the 17th Summit which will be held in Bali, 15-16 Nov 2022. This summit will be the culmination of the intensive processes and efforts of the entire G20 workflow (Ministerial Level Meetings, Working Groups, and Engagement Groups) in the year of chairmanship of Indonesia.

The G20 members consist of South Africa, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, France, China, Turkey and the European Union.

Previous presidency in the Presidency of Turkey, Argentina, China, and Japan showed a positive impact on the country. It was recorded that the number of visits by international delegates reached more than 13 thousands.

In the 17th G20 conference, more than 20 countries invited and 24 hotels being prepared to accommodate around 50.000 people coming to the island. This number includes high-level delegates to journalists.

Where with such a large number of course there will be involvement of the world of tourism, especially hotel in the provision of food. The amount of food that will be produced will also certainly be large considering the number of delegates that are expected to attend.

But will all the food that has been provided for these event run out and nothing is wasted? Buffet breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and other MICE food  are undeniable to produce surplus food. And this contrast badly with the message of conference itself. And bad image is just at the edge of door for all the companies involved.

What are we going to do with this surplus food? Throw it away and pile it up in the landfill? The surplus food which will become food waste if it ends up in final disposal will produce methane gas. This gas is a gas that is twenty-five times more dangerous to the earth than carbon dioxide gas produced by vehicles.

Here we can help you!
